About

Who I Am

Hi, my name is Marty and I am an avid developer, user, and devotee of fillable, interactive PDF forms with above average proficiency in Acrobat Javascript properties and methods. In retrospect, I have been using Adobe Acrobat to design and develop interactive PDF forms from scratch in addition to converting MS Word, Excel, Jpeg images, and other proprietary software application formats to PDF since Adobe Acrobat first debuted in 1993. I also designed and developed a date picker aka EzDatePicker for Acrobat back in 2006 long before Adobe created and added their own with the debut of Acrobat DC. I should also add that although my initial idea for a date picker was motivated by a need at the time, the mere idea of developing a date picker for Acrobat using Javascript back then was not exactly well received by the Adobe Community whereby the majority seemed to believe developing a date picker in Javascript to be anything but possible. Fortunately, I didn't take heed in the negative replies and EZDatePicker was born shortly thereafter and within months converted into an Acrobat plugin. Although I eventually decided to pull my date picker off the market once Adobe added their own, EzDatePicker performed without flaw providing more design features and visual appeal than Adobe's to this day. On another note, I also take pride in my ability to design and develop fillable, interactive PDF forms from scratch providing Javascript enhanced form features that take advantage of what today's PDF form technology has to offer as I continue to search for ways to accomplish common everyday business tasks in a fraction of time to which many are accustomed without sacrificing the quality of the service to be provided. I also seem to have an uncanny ability to transform virtually any legible scanned paper or static form into an interactive PDF form with all the bells and whistles available to simplify and expedite the completion of a PDF form using the Free Adobe Reader to help increase productivity in the workplace. Last but not least, I continue to search for new methods available to help improve PDF forms technology.

PDF Form Technology Services I Provide

Initial Form Design & Development

Initial form design and development denotes the origin of a paper or static form using a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation or other software application to produce the actual layout, graphics, and text. In other words, it's what you see before converting or exporting the form you created to a static (read-only) PDF form. If you already have an idea or the need for a specific type of form or desire to replace an existing one for personal or business use, in reality you shouldn't even begin to think about designing/developing a fillable interactive PDF form until you have a form to begin with. Fortunately, form design/layout is a skill in which I have over twenty years experience not to mention the majority of my EasyPDF™ forms featured on this website were designed from scratch. This noted, I am more than qualified and only too eager to help bring your idea of a personal or business form to fruition.

PDF Form Conversions

With the exception of some mind boggling out of the ordinary form or eBook that requires special attention or you're computer illiterate, to pay me or someone else to convert your paper form, static form or eBook (other than PDF) to PDF would normally be a complete waste of time and money. This is because the majority of software applications like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. have a built-in PDF export feature to easily convert your form to a static PDF whereas places like Kinkos FedEx and OfficeMax are equipped with multi-function printer, scanner, and copy machines able to convert your paper form to a static PDF and store it on a usb drive for a nominal fee. On the other hand, if you have a paper or static form that has yet to be converted to PDF, and desire to have your form converted to a fillable interactive PDF form, this service is automatically provided.

PDF eBooks

In reality, there are so many free utilities available online such as EPUB Converter to convert e-book files to and from their native format that this subject matter probably isn't even worth discussing. On the other hand, if for whatever reason you somehow inadvertently deleted the original file or application in which the eBook was created and your only copy is a static PDF file and you want to edit the text throughout, you're more than likely going to have to purchase a copy of Acrobat Pro or another PDF program application (if you haven't already done so) that will allow you to edit text and graphics in an eBook in PDF format. If you don't happen to have a copy of Acrobat Pro or similar PDF program and don't wish to spend the money or take time to learn how to use Acrobat or a similar PDF program to edit the eBook, I can more than likely determine what options, if any, you may have at your disposal once I have had an opportunity to preview the eBook knowing what edits you have in mind.

EasyPDF ™ Forms

EasyPDF™ Forms are interactive PDF forms designed/developed in Acrobat consisting of form fields intended to take advantage of Acrobat Javascript properties and methods available to facilitate completion of an electronic form in record time using the free Adobe Reader. It's important to note that the form to be converted to an EasyPDF™ form needs to be in PDF format to begin with. In the majority of cases, one can simply use the PDF export feature available in most word processor, spreadsheet, or other software programs in which the form was created or you may submit a legible scanned copy of a paper form with even/squared-off margins in PDF format. I'm sorry but for reasons that should be self-explanatory, fax copies are unacceptable. Last but not least, as stated under 'Initial Form Design & Development', if you don't happen to have a form or desire to replace what you're presently using, I am eager to help you anyway I can to create a new design/layout complete with graphics and text to get you started.

Custom Designed Scripts

If by chance you have had an opportunity to download and preview one or more of the EasyPDF™ forms featured on this website, hopefully you should have noticed that each and every EasyPDF™ form provides a popup menu. However, what you may not be aware of is that each and every popup menu was created using Javascript. Moreover, all main and submenu items rely on custom scripts to activate specific Acrobat javascript properties or methods to enable one or more form features responsible for clearing data, performing calculations, highlighting form fields, activating form field popup menus, etc. while using an EasyPDF ™ form. With this in mind, if you are presently searching for a custom script to enable a property/method available in Acrobat javascript, I am more than eager to help you find a solution whereby you may rest assured if it's at all possible I will find a script or create one to best serve your needs.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • In its simplest terms, a static PDF form is essentially a read-only form whereas a dynamic PDF form denotes a fillable, interactive PDF form consisting of a number of form fields for entering data using a PDF application like Adobe Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader.

  • While the answer to this question should be obvious to most anyone who has ever used a properly designed/developed interactive PDF form, for those interested and unfamiliar, the single biggest advantage to be gained using a fillable interactive PDF form is a dramatic increase in productivity to help improve work flow. It also stands to reason that any time you can finish a work related task in less time than anticipated without sacrificing quality, you can then tend to other important business matters or tasks at hand sooner than usual.

  • An EasyPDF ™ form refers to an electronic PDF form designed and developed in Acrobat complete with form fields, javascript properties, methods, and scripts added to a former static PDF form including all and any modifications made thereto to accommodate the addition of form fields, javascript properties, methods, and scripts for the expressed purpose of creating a fillable interactive PDF form to be completed in record time using the free Adobe Reader on a desktop, laptop, or tablet. The PDF form also includes an electronic signature provision if/when required for adding a digital signature to the document/form acceptable in a court of law whereby it should be noted that adding a digital signature can be made to render a dynamic PDF form read-only thereby preventing anyone from making further changes to the form if and when the need should arise before sending the document to a recipient in an email file attachment.

  • In brief, electronic or eSignatures represent a broad category of methods for signing a document. According to Wikipedia, an electronic or e-signature refers to data in electronic form logically associated with other data in electronic form used by the signatory to sign a document/form that provides the same legal standing as a handwritten signature as long as it adheres to the requirements of the specific regulation under which it was created. According to pandadoc.com, electronic or eSignatures are virtual representations of a wet-signature, one a signer would create with a pen and paper. Similar to the wet-signature, eSignatures are used to identify signers and signify that they agree to the terms outlined above the signature line (Also see 'What is a digital signature').

  • To once again quote panddoc.com, a digital signature is a type of electronic signature with an algorithm that encrypts the signature to generate a unique digital certificate containing invisible digital codes that make tampering and duplication practically impossible for hackers. Moreover, according to consensus, electronic signatures are more secure than their handwritten predecessors.

  • Yes, electronic signatures are valid in all U.S. states and are granted the same legal status as handwritten signatures under state laws. ... Only three states (New York, Illinois and Washington) maintain their own independently developed laws, but all of them are consistent with Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA).

  • In short, convenience, expediency and security. Convenience and expediency simply because a digital signature added to a computer generated document/form typically takes less than a minute to complete as opposed to having to print a hard copy to accommodate a handwritten signature and then scan the document back into its original electronic format to send in an email file attachment, a facsimile, or USPS. Security given that electronic signatures—as stated in a previous FAQ—are considered to be more secure than their handwritten predecessors.

  • While EasyPDF ™ forms can include any number and type of form fields including check boxes, text fields, button fields, list boxes, drop-down lists, etc. available in Acrobat, this can vary considerably depending on the initial design, graphics, layout, and purpose of the form for which there is no one size shoe fits all. This being the case whether designing and developing an EasyPDF ™ form from scratch or converting an existing static or paper form into a fillable interactive EasyPDF ™ form, each and every form is considered unique and as such assessed on an individual basis to determine what form fields works best.

  • Apart from a Javascript driven popup menu containing a number of menu items generic to an EasyPDF ™ form, any other Javascript feature enhancements provided serve to satisfy a specific need unfulfilled by the popup menu. Once again the number and type of scripts can vary considerably whereby each and every EasyPDF ™ form is designed and developed on an individual basis to determine scripts deemed necessary that work best to complete the form in record time without experiencing any issues.
